尚德道兄：
高证先生：
1977大哲方东美逝世台北，香港新儒大师唐君毅教授亲撰挽联，情见乎词。为之英译，竟无意偶得，上下联文字短长同等一致，冥冥中似有神助！其方唐两公灵佑与？
東美吾師千古：
從夫子問學五十年，每憶論道玄談，宛如由天而降；
與維摩同病逾半載，永懷流光慧日，如何棄我先沉！

Distinguished Neo-Confucian authority Professor Tang Junyi in Hong Kong composed
“Memoriam” in the form of a Chinese couplet of antithetical structure:
To Master Thomé H. Fang on His Way to Eternity:
With my fifty years of learning experience as a disciple,
I often remember your profound utterances on Dao as if they were all issued from
Heaven!
Sharing the same illness with Virma for over half a year, I always cherish your
radiances as a Wisdom-Sun; why dessert me with so early a sunset?

尚德讀後：
記得唐老師君毅聖哲，五十多年前夏天，一日他穿一襲白袍，在台北泰順街殷海光師府，與殷師相敘。言談間，其對殷師期望神情之深、之切，令尚德至今猶印象深刻。
尚德就只見唐老師這次一面，心私為師，以其實深契方師道德與學問，從其神韻、聯對及著述，可見之。
尚德在此也補作憶二哲一聯：
有方唐二哲學問中華不死
微二佬高士風範娑婆沉淪
If the profound and harmonious knowledge of Philosophers Thome Fang and Junyi Tang exists in the universe forever, then China will exist in the world permanently.
If these two sages’ noble style of life disappears, then the secular life will fall into the world of darkness.
